The Ordinandi Dinner is an annual event that is hosted by the Serra Clubs of the Archdiocese of Toronto as well as the Vocations office, and it is held in order to both honour the men who will be ordained that year and also to promote vocations. The word “ordinandi” is a Latin word which means “those to be ordained.” The Ordinandi Dinner usually takes place at a large banquet hall, such as the Pearson Center. During the course of the evening, there are many presentations – some of which are aimed at promoting vocations and increasing an awareness of the beauty of God’s call in our lives, and others which are aimed at showing the ordinandi class how much they are appreciated and supported. The highlight of the evening is after the dinner when each of the ordinandi shares with the assembly their own personal vocation story. This truly is a wonderful event, as it allows those who participate to see how God works through ordinary people’s lives. It also manifests the variety and uniqueness of the men whom God calls.
This event usually takes place sometime in March, and tables sell quite quickly. If you are interested in attending this event, you should talk to your pastor or get in touch with the vocations office. Please continue to pray for those who are called to serve the Lord at His Altar.
