St. Therese Vocation Society
Prayer is the FOUNDATION of fostering vocations.
The St. Thérèse Vocation Society is a Society of prayer that offers prayers and sacrifices for fostering vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Archdiocese of Toronto. This is our response to the appeal of Christ “to pray to the Lord of the harvest that he may send labourers into his harvest.”
“There is an urgent need, especially nowadays, for a more widespread and deeply felt conviction that all the members of the Church, without exception, have the grace and responsibility to pray for vocations.” (Shepherds after my own heart #38 – Pope John Paul II)
Any individual, regardless of age or state in life, is invited to join the society. In a very special way, families are also highly encouraged to join the society as one entity and to pray together. It the Christian family, a truly 'domestic church', that has always offered and continues to offer favourably environments for the birth of holy vocations. It can be said that the recent trend of diminishing vocations is a by-product of the disintegration of North American families, and we therefore pray especially for an increase of holiness in our families. Members of the Society will be remembered every first Friday of each month in a mass offered by the Toronto Vocations Director.
There are no dues or meetings, only the promise of your prayerful support:
- Reciting daily Prayer for Vocations to Priesthood and religious life
- Reciting daily Prayer for Priests and Religious
- Offer any sacrifices in union with Christ for an increase in vocations and for the holiness of those preparing to serve the Church
